MISSION STATEMENT In response to our vocation as parents, we, the families of HITS Homeschool Group, strive to provide a supportive atmosphere for Catholic homeschoolers by offering social, educational, and faith based activities, as well as information, guidance, and encouragment.
Our group meets for activities and field trips in and around Northern Oakland County, Michigan. Activities are planned to accommodate children of all ages. Families need not be Catholic to participate, however, some activities do center around our Catholic faith.
CODE OF CONDUCT
*We must remember that our behavior reflects not only on ourselves and our families, but also on HITS and the homeschool community in general. We ask that everyone abide by the following Code of Conduct.
1. Respect for everyone at all times, including property, in our thoughts and actions.
2. When you sign up for an activity on the Interest Survey, please pay on time. The coordinator for that activity should not be expected to "cover" fees. Even small amounts add up and we all have budgets and obligations to meet. Sometimes there is a deposit required to obtain a group rate or reserve an event. If the cost of an activity is prohibitive to your family, please contact the coordinator.
3. Try to arrive on time or early to an activity.
4. If you are unable to make it to the activity, please try to contact the coordinator via email or a phone call, if feasible, as soon as possible.
5. Do not expect refunds. Refunds are up to the discretion of the coordinator.
6. Do not leave your children unattended at an event without asking another parent to be responsible for and to watch your children (using the bathroom for example).
7. Follow the rules and guidelines for each activity. Every effort is made to set up activities with all ages in mind, knowing that we have infant through high school aged children in our group. Sometimes there may be restrictions on age/grade level (no toddlers for example) and exceptions may or may not be made for infants (it is expected that mothers with extremely fussy infants will excuse themselves from the room for a bit). Some activities require parents to remain on the premises with their children and do not allow other parents to bring or watch their children.*Every effort is made to gather and provide all the necessary info for each activity; cost, location, age guidelines, etc. Please make sure to thoroughly read the calendar of activities and the interest survey before signing up for activities. If you do have further questions regarding an activity, please contact the coordinator.
